Paddlers from around the globe once again descended upon Nuremburg, Germany from September 18-20th to see the latest in canoe, kayak and standup paddling … formerly known as Kanumesse, the event is now called PADDLEexpo. Greeted by warm weather (and even warmer smiles) we were once again happy to share the SEA-LECT Designs brand under the wing of our European distributor, System X (with a special shout out to Nick Mallabar and Ant Perkins for their efforts).
As in previous years, Matt Poischbeg (who runs our sister company, and plastics manufacturing facility, SEA-LECT Plastics) joined myself (Ryan) as we enjoyed seeing many old friends, meeting new faces … while also sharing our new Low Profile Footbrace and line of Performance Hatches. And, we continue to garner praise for our innovative merchandising with the Spinner Display and Panel Programs.
Nuremburg was abuzz with their annual Fall Harvest Festival … and while it sadly wasn’t Oktoberfest time, the city center was still hoppin’ with street fairs and beer gardens. One of the things I love most are Nuremburger Sausages … they’re equally delicious for breakfast, lunch or dinner!
A happy addition to the show was seeing Darren Bush (owner of Rutabaga Paddlesports) in the aisles in 2012. Darren loves paddling (as well as all things Bavarian – claiming they destroyed 50 bratwursts during the trip), and was there to see what was going on in the ‘European arena’. He commented he really enjoyed the low-key energy of the show, combined with the wide variety of kayaks and accessories – it provided the chance to spend some quality time with his friends. Darren really believes that when it comes to business, it's all about relationships.
When asked “will we see any Euro product at Canoecopia in 2013?”, Darren just smiled.
